Walking Together
At Rivers to Ridges, reconciliation is not a single act but a way of being together. We listen, learn, and walk alongside the Peoples whose lands we learn on. Every week, our camps welcome Elders and Knowledge Holders to share their teachings, helping us nurture curiosity, respect, and belonging on the land.
2026 Summer Camp
2026 will mark our 10th summer of offering camps, with many campers returning year after year to deepen their skills, reconnect with friends, and play. Each child is part of a small pod of 10 with a dedicated leader, ensuring safety, engagement, and personal attention. Days unfold with explorations like shelter-building, fire-making, storytelling and skill-shares with Elders and Knowledge Holders, wild foraging, awareness games, and camp-wide open play. Each week ends with a Friday family celebration, where campers proudly share their highlights and accomplishments.

Registration Policies
We are committed to creating safe, meaningful programs for children. To help us do this, we ask all families to review our registration policies before enrolling.
Payment Plans
Payment plans are available for our programs and can be selected at the time of registration.
Refund & Cancellation Policy
We understand that family plans can change and do our best to be fair and transparent with refunds. Please note that significant time and resources go into planning programs, securing staff, and managing registrations.
-
Within 48 hours of registration: Families receive a full refund, including the $50 deposit.
-
28 or more days before the program begins: A refund will be issued, less the $50 non-refundable deposit, which helps cover administrative time and planning already invested.
-
Fewer than 28 days before the program begins: Unfortunately, we are unable to offer a refund, as program expenses and staffing are already in place.
Program Cancellation
In the unforeseen event that we must cancel a program, such as for low enrollment or unexpected circumstances, families will be offered the choice of transferring to another program (if available) or receiving a full refund (minus processing fees). We do our best to avoid cancellations and will communicate with families as early as possible.
Wait List
Many of our programs fill quickly. If a spot opens, families on the wait list will be notified automatically by email and will have 48 hours to confirm their registration before the spot is offered to the next family.
Late Pick-Up
Our staff work hard to ensure a safe and smooth end to each program day. Programs end at 4:15 pm, and we ask families to plan accordingly.
-
Pick-ups after 4:15 pm may result in a $25 fee.
-
Pick-ups after 4:45 pm may result in an additional $25 fee.
Families are responsible for covering late fees. If late pick-ups become ongoing, program participation may be suspended. We encourage parents/guardians to make special arrangements in advance if they know they will be delayed.
What It Feels like at Camp
At Rivers to Ridges, children run, climb, build, and play with their whole hearts. They return home muddy and tired, yet full of songs, stories, and wonder. Alongside this joyful energy are moments of stillness: a quiet sit spot, weaving plants into cordage, or listening to an Elder share stories and skills.
Grounded in research and guided by local knowledge, our programs honour play as inseparable from learning. Children test their limits and follow their curiosity, supported by caring mentors who guide with skill, respect, and heart.
The result is both lively and gentle: experiences of belonging that ripple into home, friendships, and a more empathetic way of seeing the world.

Bursary Fund
In 2018, we established the Strong Roots Bursary Fund to ensure that all children have the opportunity to experience the forest, regardless of their family’s financial situation. Currently, the fund is modest, and not all applicants can be guaranteed support. However, with financial contributions from our community, we can ensure that no family is ever turned away due to lack of funds. This fund, made possible through the generosity of local donors, sponsors, and a portion of our organizational revenues, is key to keeping our programs accessible to all families in need.
Children may be invited to…
- build simple shelters from natural materials
- sneak silently like foxes or join running games through the forest
- sit quietly at a favourite spot and notice what unfolds
- weave plants into cordage or small crafts
- laugh, sing, and share camp songs together
- taste wild berries and learn about edible and medicinal plants
- dream up and create wild crafts
- make their own forest medallion + choose a forest name
- sketch insects, press flowers, or creatively map trails
- hike up the hill and take in the view
- coax a spark into flame, or try friction fires
- explore invertebrates at the pond or lake
- listen to stories and teachings from Elders and Knowledge Holders
- balance on logs, climb with awareness, or play in the mud
- track animal prints and follow their signs
- take on team challenges or survival scenarios
